Chapter 652
Chapter 652
It had been a while since Sage left Salem City.
Jace had been staying in Salem City without returning to Nadeem City.
He had been watching Jekyll, as well as Sienna and Peter Sage’s safety would still be a concern if the issue persisted.
Simon thought Jace and Sienna had gotten back together when he learned that Jace had been tracking Sienna He called Jace and lectured him furiously.
Jace had to explain himself over and over again before Simon would believe that he was doing it for Sage and not for Sienna.
Simon’s attitude changed in an instant upon learning that Jace was indeed doing it for Sage.
“Oh, it’s for Sage, I see. You should’ve said so earlier, I could’ve saved my energy from yelling at you.”
“Fine then, I can’t care much about what you kids are doing these days, but if you manage to win Sage back, I’d give you a reward.”
Jace sighed in relief after hanging up the phone, unsure whether to cry or laugh.
Reward.?
That old man was so naive.
Jace was in no place to ask for any rewards right now, so long as his past deeds were forgiven.
Jace would inform Sage at once when he noticed there were any changes with Sienna and Peter. He would not say anything more than that as he was worried that Sage would feel annoyed or misunderstood that he was still involved with Sienna.
Sage’s replies were short and straightforward as well. It would just be ‘Noted’ or ‘Okay’. The longest one being ‘Alright’. He would even make sure to only send the texts during the day in Birmingham to avoid disturbing her rest time.
Sage’s replies were short, but she would always reply right away. Today, however, was different. She had not replied in more than half a day.
Jace had been holding onto his phone and waiting patiently. Zayne came in to update on the progress of the antique restoration project and brought in the documents that needed to be signed.
Jace had been going to Salem City very frequently lately, so his managers and workers under him had been sending all the files and work over to Salem. Jace finished all the urgent work and checked his phone again, but still no reply from Sage.
He wondered what Sage was up to.
Jace’s phone rang at that moment. He quickly checked and realized that it was not from Sage but from Lucas Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Jace’s excitement was gone in an instant. He frowned and picked the phone up. Lucas’ gentle voice along with the sound of the wind was heard from the other side of the phone, saying, “Jace, I’m in Salem City. Let’s meet up.”
Jace and Lucas went to meet in a cafe.
It was late at night, and the cafe was quiet. Lucas came from a long way, and Salem City was pretty chilly at night. He rubbed his palms together and ordered a pot of Earl Gray Tea. Lucas smiled lightly and said, “If I remember correctly, this is your mother’s favorite tea.” Jace was expressionless. He said calmly, “She doesn’t drink much tea anymore. Her tastes have changed.”
“Is that so?”
Lucas looked up and maintained his smile. He did not feel embarrassed at all. “We haven’t seen each other in so long, and it’s only normal for people to change.” The tea was served, and the air filled with the fragrance of Earl Gray. The waiter poured the tea and served it to them. “Enjoy.” The father and son were silent for a brief moment. Lucas broke the silence, “I heard Sienna is in town, are you guys…” “There’s nothing going on between us. She’s not in the city for me either. You should know that.” Jace’s face was sharp, and he smiled in disdain. “I’d have never expected the all-great and mighty Chief Spencer to be a pimp one day,” Jace said ruthlessly.
Lucas’ face darkened in an instant, and his hand paused before the cup of tea before him.
He paused for a brief moment, suppressing the urge to splash the cup of tea on Jace.
“Watch your words.”
Lucas said with a darkened face, “I know you’ve never respected me as a father, nor do you think positively of me as a person. However, I’m still your father, and you better pay some
respect!”
Jace wanted to laugh upon seeing Lucas’ serious face. However, having someone like him as a father was miserable. “Let’s just cut to the chase. What do you want from me, Chief Spencer?” Jace asked as he took a sip of the tea.
