A Relentless Pursuit for Love

Chapter 653

Chapter 653

Lucas took a sip and collected his emotions before he spoke, “Your mother went to Mostal to recuperate, right? How is she?”

“Don’t you worry about her? She’s always been great.”

Jace continued, “Haven’t you bailed Luna out of jail? That’s pretty impressive. Congratulations on the reunion.”

Lucas’ face darkened upon hearing Luna’s name.

He cleared his throat and said, “I ended things with her.”

“Oh?” Jace raised his brow, “What a surprise. Isn’t she pregnant with your baby?”

Lucas was uneasy. He responded awkwardly, “It’s not what you think it is…. Getting her out of jail was the last thing I could do for her. We ended on good terms.”

“Oh.” Jace nodded calmly. Jace was now certain that Luna’s pregnancy was fake, and the pregnancy test she did was also a sham.

“Son.”

Lucas called out to Jace gently, “If I told you that I wanted to fix things with your mother, would you support me?”

Jace raised his head up slowly as if he had seen a ghost.

“What did you say?”

Lucas’ eyes lit up, and he said, “I’d like to get back together with your mother, and the three of us can reunite as a family. What do you think?”

Jace frowned deeply as he stared into Lucas’ eyes,

“Have you been diagnosed with a terminal illness or something?” The glow on Lucas’ face disappeared immediately. “What nonsense are you talking about?” “What is this about then? Is it because things didn’t work out with your ex-lover, and now you’re looking for a replacement?” Jace asked, feeling absurd. “Is it really necessary to be that ruthless?” Anger was taken over Lucas as he uttered deeply, “I thought you’d be able to understand how I feel. Aren’t you trying to reconcile with Sage? If you can do it, why can’t I?” “You’re comparing yourself to me? What ground do you have to compare yourself to me?!” Jace slammed the cup on the table, causing a loud thud. “You and my mother are different from Sage and me.”

“How so?”

Lucas looked at Jace, his eyes filled with a myriad of emotions. “Son, this is not something you have a say in. You and I are very similar.”

Jace froze. He felt like he had been stabbed by a cold blade right through the heart, his face drained of blood.

Jace chuckled coldly after a long pause. “You’re right. You and I have the same blood. I’m cold-blooded like you, fickle like you, and blind like you. We both harmed the woman we truly love for women that weren’t worth it,” Jace said as he looked up at Lucas with a sharp gaze. “But I also have my mother’s blood in me, and she taught me to be a human, not an animal. I know to learn from my mistakes and bear the consequences of them. I’m not shameless like

you!”

Jace put down the cup of tea and got up to leave. Lucas said as he watched Jace leave, “I’ll get Freya back whether you’re on my side or not.”

“Do as you please.” Jace did not turn his head back. He smiled in disdain and said, “If you think you’re that capable, then go ahead. If my mother accepts you, I’ll take your last name.”

Jace walked out of the cafe. He felt as if he had been hollowed out. His limbs were frozen.

He walked alone in the dark, with a cigarette between his lips. He felt heavy as he dragged his body along the street.

The street was empty and quiet. His phone rang and broke the silence. He checked his phone and noticed that Sage had replied. “I was swimming, just saw your message.”

“Noted.”

Two messages! Sage sent two messages! Those two short text messages flowed into his heart like a stream of warmth and through his limbs, rejuvenating his frozen body. The corner of his lips lifted as he replied to Sage’s text message like how a boyfriend would. “Alright.” ‘I was nothing like Lucas,’ Jace thought to himself. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
