Chapter 726
Chapter 726
Jared simply couldn't believe this was some sort of scheme cooked up by Agnes and Kearney.
After all, Agnes hadn't seemed to be acting in the garden maze.
There could only be one explanation, that Mr. Kearney had baited everyone at this banquet, just as
Valeria had insinuated.
What a dreadful man.
What scared Jared even more was that Agnes was willingly standing by such a man, and he didn't
even know their relationship. Who exactly had Agnes been associating with all these years?
Once Agnes got into the car, she hung her head, her face filled with remorse. "Kearney, I'm sorry, I
messed up today." © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Kearney chuckled, turning to face her. "I should thank you for today. I've secured the proxy rights."
Agnes was taken aback. Because when she and Jared returned to the castle, she hadn't heard them
discussing business.
Kearney, seeing Agnes' surprised expression, continued to explain. "Ms. Thomas lost the trust of the
Count and Countess Alexandra due to her fraudulent marriage. The other wine merchants lack power,
so naturally, the proxy rights fell into my lap. You really did me a solid today."
But Agnes wasn't pleased. Even though she had agreed to help Kearney secure the proxy rights, she
didn't expect that he'd snatch them from Valeria using Jared.
Would Valeria think it was premeditated?
Agnes suddenly looked up, asking, "Kearney, did you know before that Valeria's companion was my ex-
husband?"
Agnes didn't want to think this way, and when Kearney had spotted Jared at the banquet, he seemed
surprised too. If he knew beforehand, he wouldn't have asked Agnes that way, right?
Kearney said, "Septima, you should know, my original choice for a date was Phenix."
Agnes finally put two and two together.
If Phenix hadn't suddenly fallen ill, she wouldn't have attended the banquet in her stead, and she
wouldn't have run into Jared and Valeria. So how could Kearney have planned all this? It turned out it
was all just a coincidence.
Agnes apologized, "I'm sorry, Kearney, I shouldn't have doubted you."
Kearney seemed unconcerned, "It's okay."
They were flying home the next day.
Agnes contacted Jared before leaving. They weren't on the same flight, but they would arrive on the
same day.
After a long flight, Agnes finally returned to the Capital.
By the time she arrived, it was already 8 p.m.
Kearney took her straight to Eden Nights.
Agnes went to see Phenix first. Her chickenpox had improved, but she was still covered in spots.
Phenix wouldn't let her stay long.
Kearney, after coming back and not even seeing Phenix, took a call and left.
Kearney was running a business empire, Agnes understood.
When Agnes saw Phenix, she gave her Kearney's set of ruby jewelry.
Phenix stared at the rubies, finally smiling wryly, "I didn't think he'd take a teenager's joke seriously."
Agnes didn't know what Phenix meant. She didn't ask about their complicated love triangle.
Exhausted from a long flight, Agnes went to bed as soon as she got back to her apartment.
In a haze of sleep, she heard someone knocking at the door.
