Chapter 2921
"I can't hear what he is saying."
"Layla, come sleep with me tonight," Ivy said. "Maybe we've misunderstood Dad."
"But that baby..."
"He doesn't really look that much like Dad. Why don't we go have another look now?" Ivy said.
"Okay! Let's have another look."
The two headed down the stairs.
Meanwhile, in the master bedroom, Avery had calmed down after listening to what Elliot had had to say.
"A vasectomy can fail," she said.
"The doctor said that I wouldn't be able to impregnate anyone if the surgery was a success," Elliot said confidently. "Why don't we go to a hospital to check if the surgery failed?" Avery glanced at the clock and noticed that it was almost nine.
"We haven't taken any contraceptive measures over the years, and you didn't get pregnant, did you? What makes you think that I can impregnate another woman?" Elliot's tone grew more and more confident. He shifted Layla's pillow away and climbed into bed.
Avery stared at him as his words echoed in her mind. For a moment, she did not know what to do.
"What happened to benefit of the doubt, Avery? It breaks my heart that you have so little trust in me," Elliot said. "I've never been treated this way. I'm with you every single day. Do you really not know what kind of a person I am?"
"The results aren't even out yet, and you are already complaining." Avery shot him a sidelong glance.
"It's not my baby. I know what I did or didn't do. I have nothing to feel guilty about, so I'm sleeping here tonight." Elliot covered himself with the blanket and went to sleep.
The next day, Hayden returned to Aryadelle, and as soon as he stepped out of the airport, he caught a taxi to head to Elliot's mansion instead of calling the driver who worked for Elliot.
In his perspective, everything in that mansion belonged to Elliot.
If Avery decided to divorce Elliot, it was inevitable for Elliot to leave without a penny to his name, and once the divorce was finalized Hayden intended to take Avery to Bridgedale with him.
If she remained in Aryadelle, she was bound to hear about Elliot and would never be at peace.
When Avery saw Hayden, she immediately brought him a pair of slippers.
"Why didn't you get the driver to pick you up?" she asked.
"I can get here myself." Hayden changed into the slippers and scanned the living room to find Elliot and Layla there.
"Hayden, have you eaten?" Layla walked over and asked.
"I'm not hungry." Hayden's gaze landed on Elliot.
"Hayden, the baby isn't mine." Elliot knew what Hayden was going to say and beat him to it. "I had a
vasect iden
when I remarried your
mother. I'm satisfied with having four children, and I don't want any
more. You can ask your mom about
it
After thinking the whole night, Avery had regained her composure and realized that Elliot was telling the truth.
Elliot had gone through a
vasectomy, and Avery had not
gotten pregnant despite the fact that
they had not taken any
contraceptive measures throughout
the years, which meant that the
surgery had been a success.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
"Hayden, there might be some kind of misunderstanding here." Avery took Hayden's hand and pulled him toward the couch. "Let's just wait for the DNA test results." Layla poured Hayden a glass of water. "Hayden, did I scare you when I called you yesterday?"
"What do you think?" Hayden took a sip of water.
"I freaked out. Who would have known that Dad had had a vasectomy? He didn't tell us about it," Layla complained. "Do you want to see the baby? He does look like Dad."
