Chapter 844: People from Viteto
Early the next morning, Yanis was rudely awakened by Zane pulling her out of bed.
She blinked sleepily at him, "What's going on?"
"Mitch just called. He said Reed hasn't returned home since he left the hospital last night," Zane
whispered.
Yanis instantly snapped out of her drowsiness, her eyes widening, "When did this happen?"
"Mitch called just now. I'm taking you to see for yourself. I've already sent Albi ahead," Zane said,
stepping down from the bed before Yanis, "You go freshen up, and I'll find your clothes."
Yanis hurriedly got off the bed and quickly made her way into the bathroom, where she quickly
freshened up and changed her clothes. "Zane, hurry up."
Zane responded, "Coming."
Without even having breakfast, the two of them hurriedly left the Lawrence's Mansion. They didn't even
say goodbye to the Old Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence before leaving.
Iris was annoyed when she saw Zane and Yanis hastily leaving. She turned to Sophia standing by the
door and asked in a low voice, "Sophia, what's happening?"
Sophia shook her head, "I don't know either. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence don't look well. Something must
have happened."
Just as Sophia finished speaking, Anika's voice came from behind them, "Sophia, what's going on?"
Iris turned to Anika, "Why are you up so early?"
"Maybe it's because we're in a new place, so I woke up early," Anika replied, looking at Iris, "What's
wrong with my brother and sister-in-law?"
"I don't know. I'll call and ask later," Iris said.
"Then call now," Anika urged, looking at Iris.
Iris complied, picking up her phone to call Zane, but she realized that he was probably driving, so she
called Yanis instead. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
As the call went through, there was a prompt on the other side indicating that the line was busy.
Since the call was on speaker, Anika naturally heard it too.
"Let's try again later."
Anika nodded, "Don't tell Grandpa and Grandma yet. They'll worry."
Iris responded, "Okay."
"Mr. Duncan, you and Anika sit for a while. I'll go prepare breakfast," Iris suggested.
Iris glanced at the time and said, "Sophia, don't bother preparing our breakfast. Anika mentioned
wanting to eat out last night, so we'll grab something when we return to the South Yard."
Sophia nodded upon hearing Iris's words, "Okay, I'll go prepare breakfast for the Old Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence then."
After Sophia went into the kitchen, Anika had Iris make another call.
This time, the call was still in progress.
Iris hung up the phone, "Still in progress."
Anika furrowed her brows slightly, "Then we'll try again later."
Iris made a comforting sound, "Nothing serious will happen. It might be something else."
Anika didn't respond, but her expression clearly showed her worry. She was deeply concerned.
Meanwhile, on the way to the small apartment, Yanis remained on the phone with Mitch, inquiring
about the events of last night.
Mitch gave her a brief account of what happened last night.
After listening to Mitch's words, Yanis asked, "Did you personally see her leave the hospital and head
home last night?"
Mitch replied, "I was planning to accompany her back, but she insisted on going by herself, saying it
was just a short walk. She has done it before, so I didn't escort her."
"If only I hadn't listened to her and gone with her," Yanis said, her tone filled with self-blame.
Yanis reassured him, "There should be surveillance cameras on the road over there. Let's go and
check it out."
Mitch replied, "My mom doesn't know about this yet. Please don't mention it in front of her."
Yanis nodded, "Okay."
After finishing the conversation, Yanis asked, "What about the others? Are they at school or at home?"
"I asked them to go to school first," Mitch replied.
"Okay, you go check the surveillance cameras on that road, and we'll ask them to show us the footage
later," Yanis said.
"Okay."
After hanging up the phone, Yanis glanced at the missed call from Iris and called her back.
When Yanis dialed the number, Iris picked up almost instantly, "Yanis, is something wrong?"
Yanis responded, "There's been a situation with Mitch. Please tell Grandpa and Grandma that we have
something to attend to and had to leave."
Upon hearing Yanis's words, Iris replied, "Okay. Let me know if you need any help."
"Okay."
After ending the call, Yanis looked at Zane and asked, "Has Albi arrived yet?"
Just as she said that, Zane's phone rang.
The caller ID showed it was Albi.
Yanis answered the call before Zane, "Albi, what's the situation?"
"It's people from Viteto," Albi's voice came through the phone, "They heard that Mitch made a fortune
here, so they waited outside the hospital last night and followed Miss Reed, taking her away."
"What about Reed now?"
"Mr. Cooke found them and gave them a good beating. Miss Reed is fine now," Albi said.
Upon hearing Albi's words, Yanis breathed a sigh of relief, "Did they return to the apartment?"
"They should have," Albi replied.
"Okay, got it."
After hanging up with Albi, Yanis called Mitch to update him on Reed's condition.
Mitch didn't say much after hearing the news and simply hung up the phone.
"What did he say?" Zane tilted his head and whispered to Yanis.
Yanis whispered back, "Allan found Reed, and they probably brought her back to the apartment."
"What did Albi say?"
"He said the people who took Reed are from Viteto. They heard that Mitch made a fortune here, so
they came looking for him," Yanis informed Zane of what Albi had said during their phone conversation.
After hearing Yanis's words, Zane furrowed his brow slightly, "The Hill District of Viteto?"
Yanis nodded, "I think it's the same group of people who followed Nealon..."
Yanis stopped abruptly, looking at Zane cautiously.
Zane's expression remained unchanged as he looked at her when she paused, "Go on."
Yanis pursed her lips, "It might be the same people Sameer used to associate with. When I was in the
Hill District of Viteto, I heard Marnon say that Sameer was the most agreeable among their group.
Sameer would lend them money whenever they needed it, but they never paid him back."
After hearing Yanis's words, Zane understood why they had found Mitch. They probably thought Mitch
would be as accommodating as his father and readily give them money when they asked for it.
