Chapter 883: Raised by the Jones Family
Upon hearing Yanis' words, Dr. Watson looked at Yanis with a terrified expression. "Strangled to
death?"
Yanis nodded. "I went to the room earlier and saw her in the bathroom. There were obvious marks on
her neck."
Having been a doctor for so many years, this was the first time Dr. Watson had encountered such a
situation.
"Give me the child first. I'll have the nurses take him to the treatment room and watch over him. Let's
go and have a look together," Dr. Watson said.
Yanis nodded in agreement. Dr. Watson motioned for Yanis to hold the child and then tidied up the
things on her desk. She turned to Yanis and asked, "Did you call the police?"
Yanis replied, "Yes, I already called. They should be on their way."
Dr. Watson nodded. "We can't make this public yet. I'll inform the hospital director to come over."
Yanis murmured in response.
As Dr. Watson was leaving, she reached out and grabbed Yanis' arm, whispering, "I'll make the call."
After notifying the hospital administration, Dr. Watson accompanied Yanis to the treatment room, where
they handed over the child.
When they arrived at Nancy's room, the entrance was already surrounded by security guards, and the
door had been closed.
Seeing Yanis approach, Lane looked up and said, "The police should be here soon."
Yanis asked, "Where is Andrew?"
"I had him locked in the examination room, under supervision," Lane replied.
Yanis nodded. Just as she was about to speak, she heard a familiar voice.
Yanis turned around and saw Aunt Rivers running over in a panic. Yanis took a few steps forward to
greet her. "Aunt Rivers."
Aunt Rivers' eyes were red, and she reached out and grabbed Yanis' hand. "Miss Thompson, where is
the child?"
"The child is currently in the treatment room. Dr. Watson has assigned a specialized nurse to watch
over him, so he should be fine."
Aunt Rivers felt somewhat relieved upon hearing this. She then looked at Yanis and asked, "And the
guards? Where is Nancy?"
"Andrew is in the examination room, and Nancy... is still in the bathroom," Yanis replied softly.
Aunt Rivers sighed and followed Lane to see Andrew.
As Aunt Rivers and Lane left, the police arrived.
Since they needed to gather evidence, no one else was allowed to enter the room.
Nancy's body was carried out of the bathroom by the police and placed on the bed.
Looking at Nancy lying lifeless on the hospital bed, Yanis tightened her grip on her side. Suddenly, she
felt a sense of guilt, as if Nancy's death was somehow related to her.
If she hadn't told Nancy to find a lawyer and sue Andrew, would she still be alive?
If she hadn't introduced Lane to Nancy, would Andrew not have killed her?
Yanis stood at the doorway, watching Nancy's lifeless body, her eyes becoming red and filled with
sorrow.
While Yanis was answering the police's questions, Zane's call came in.
"Take the call first," the questioning police officer said, quite accommodating.
Yanis thanked him and answered Zane's call. "Zane."
Upon hearing Yanis' voice, Zane immediately sensed that something was wrong. "What's going on?"
Yanis remained silent for a few seconds before answering in a low voice, "Zane, Nancy is dead."
Zane's voice became even gentler upon hearing Yanis' words. "Are you at the hospital? I'll come over
right away."
Yanis murmured, "Okay."
After hanging up the phone, Yanis answered a few more questions before standing aside.
Aunt Rivers returned from seeing Andrew and sat silently, looking somewhat dazed.
The police had to repeat their questions several times before Aunt Rivers could answer them.
Then they proceeded to question Andrew.
Andrew confessed without hesitation, explaining in detail how he had argued with Nancy and killed her.
After the police finished questioning Andrew, Nancy's parents arrived in a hurry.
Mrs. Jones fainted at the sight of Nancy's body, and Mr. Jones' eyes turned red.
Mr. Jones had to attend to his wife while also dealing with Nancy's affairs.
When he saw Andrew, Mr. Jones stepped forward and slapped him twice. He was about to strike again
when the police intervened.
With intentional murder, Andrew would find it hard to escape the death penalty.
The police took Andrew away, and after completing the necessary procedures, Nancy's body was
handed over to Mr. and Mrs. Jones.
"Yanis." As soon as Zane arrived, he hugged Yanis tightly.
Yanis raised her hand and embraced Zane, whispering, "Zane, do you think if I hadn't introduced
Nancy to Lawyer Phillips and urged her to sue Andrew, she wouldn't have died?"
Zane gently touched Yanis' head with his hand and softly said, "It's not your fault. Don't overthink it."
News of Nancy's death spread quickly.
When Yanis left the hospital, Bonnie called. "Yanis, Nancy... is dead?"
Yanis replied, "Strangled to death by Andrew."
Bonnie was stunned and remained silent for a while before speaking. "What about the child?"
"The child is with Aunt Rivers. From now on, the Jones family will take care of him."
Aunt Rivers was also pitiful in a way, but her actions could not be forgiven.
If Aunt Rivers hadn't hidden the truth from Andrew and deceived Nancy, this wouldn't have happened.
So, regardless of how it was looked at, the child should stay with the Jones family.
However, Aunt Rivers also had self-awareness and didn't try to fight the Jones family for custody. She
just asked for a chance to see the child and agreed to let the Jones family make all the decisions.
Despite her dislike for Andrew, Aunt Rivers had treated Nancy well.
So, the Jones family accepted her request.

That night, Yanis had a series of nightmares. She desperately tried to pull Nancy back from the edge of
a cliff but failed. She could only watch as Nancy fell down.
Then she saw Nancy covered in blood, crying and begging for help...
These dreams startled Yanis awake multiple times, each time drenched in sweat.
At the first sign of Yanis waking up, Zane immediately embraced her, soothingly saying, "Yanis, I'm
here."
Yanis remained stunned for a while before regaining her senses. She reached out and hugged Zane,
saying, "Zane, I dreamt
of Nancy. She was crying and begging me to save her."
Listening to Yanis' words, Zane lowered his head and gently kissed her forehead, softly reassuring her,
"It's okay now, it's all over."
