Chapter 131
Noelle stood before Cedric, close enough that they were almost touching.
He avoided her gaze. "We're not together yet."
"So you're still in the flirting stage?"
He gave an ambiguous reply, "Something like that."
When she heard his admission, her heart sank. It was real.
Just a moment ago, she wondered if he was only saying that to reject Frank's attempt to set him up with a woman. She asked, "Is it the woman you met that time in the restaurant?"
She had once seen him dining with a woman at a restaurant. Although she couldn't see the woman's face clearly, she remembered that she was tall and probably very beautiful. Cedric's throat moved slightly. "I didn't expect you to be so nosy."
"I'm just curious. You just said you didn't have a girlfriend, and now there's news about you having one. Isn't it okay to ask?" Noelle's words felt insincere.
At that moment, Frank, having finished his checkup, wheeled himself out of the examination room, looking a little pale.
Noelle's tone was distant when he saw him like this. "The doctor said you need treatment; take your medicine regularly and stop drinking."
"I always forget. You used to be there to supervise me, but now that you're not at home, I often forget." His words had a hidden meaning; he could see she was soft-hearted.
It seemed that she still cared for him. If this illness could make her turn back, he would gladly stay sick.
Noelle gave a mocking smile. "You can have Xenia to remind you. She really likes doing that kind of thing."noveldrama
Frank was taken aback. "I think the medicinal congee you used to make was really effective, but you're the only one who knows how to make it right now. I know you've put in a lot for me before... It's my fault..." "But that's not medicine, and it doesn't help." She knew what he was implying, but she refused to engage.
She looked at him. "Get your treatment. I'm leaving."
"Noelle, will you... will you come visit me again?" There was a hopeful look in Frank's eyes.
Noelle felt a little soft-hearted but remembered seeing Xenia at the hospital last time. She responded calmly, "I'll see how things go."
With that, she turned and left.
He watched her back and turned to James. "Do you think what she said just now means she's starting to forgive me?"
James felt that wasn't the case. Frank still had a long way to go to win Noelle back.
Noelle returned to her apartment.
Alfred walked ahead. "I'm in a hurry to use the bathroom, so I'll go first. You guys can take your time."
Noelle followed behind Cedric. She turned to him and said, "I didn't expect that company to be run by Alfred. Are you working there, too?" "Yeah. I used some connections."
The two of them entered the
elevator side by side. She was in a
bad mood when she saw their reflections on the doors. She caught a whiff of the alcohol on him. "You still haven't answered my question."
Cedric tugged at his collar, his gaze heavy as he looked at her. "What question?" "The woman you're flirting with. Is it the one from the restaurant that day?"
He suddenly took a step forward, looking down at her. "Why do you need to know?"
Facing his intense gaze, Noelle hurriedly stepped back until her back was pressed against the elevator wall She bit her lip. "I just want to know, can't I?"
"Children shouldn't ask too many questions regarding adult matters."
"But I'm already an adult. I could date in college." Noelle's words were firm, her almond-shaped eyes clear and bright, reflecting his image.
Cedric frowned tightly. "You're still young."
"I'm of legal age. Why am I still young?"
His mood became inexplicably
irritable. He flicked her forehead lightly. On college, there are plenty of other things you could focus on besides dating."
She covered her forehead. But he could date, so why was he restricting her?
Just then, the elevator doors opened.
What do you think?
