No More Waiting, She Chooses Love

Chapter 756

I held Nancy tightly, taking a measure of the people in front of us. They didn't move any closer, just stared at me with a predatory gaze. Then, I heard hurried footsteps and an anxious voice, “Nancy, don't be afraid, mommy's here.” Internally rolling my eyes at this, Shirley burst in, snatching Nancy from my arms and giving me a shove. Well played, Shirley.

After showering Nancy with kisses and soothing words, Shirley turned to glare at me, "Felicia, I trusted you, allowed Nancy to befriend you, and you used our affection and trust to hurt us."

"Nancy interrupted before I could speak, "Sissy didn't hurt me."

Shirley's face froze for a moment, then she clung to Nancy, sobbing. The men in black didn't hassle me further; they were part of Shirley's theatrics, just there to take Nancy away.

Shirley might have wrapped up her drama with Nancy, but my troubles were only beginning. As expected, Lord Clark came to see me.

"Ms. Hudson, you know why I'm here?" Lord Clark cut straight to the chase.

Facing him, I reflected on Shirley's scheme - even the wisest can falter, and now it was Lord Clark's turn. He had been outmaneuvered by the person closest to him.

"Is Mr. Clark here to ask why I 'kidnapped' his daughter?" I inquired.

He hadn't ordered any harsh treatment, just a meeting. As Shirley predicted, he felt guilty towards me, hence his leniency. But he was eager to know the reasons, which wasn't hard to guess.

"Doesn't Mr. Clark already know?" I replied with a smile.

He toyed with a stress ball, "You're not just out for revenge, and even if you were, you wouldn't harm a child."

Surprisingly, his dark heart could consider me so highly.

"Ms. Hudson, if you tell me what you want, maybe we can sit down and negotiate," Lord Clark suggested, reflecting a seasoned approach. Allen couldn't manage me, so now it was his turn. His kindness was just a strategy to retrieve something Ernest left me. Ernest had said the item hidden in the urn was just some research, but now it seemed like Ernest's lifeline.

"Since Mr. Clark is straightforward, I'll be the same, I want Phipps from the Sapphire Lounge to return safely," I said, making Lord Clark narrow his eyes. He wanted a reason, so I continued, "Mr. Clark" must know that after I broke up with Conrad, I was with Ernest. But he

resembles Ernest a lot."

I stopped there, leaving the rest for Lord Clark to deduce. Perhaps he already knew and was just testing me again.

"Just for a male model?" Lord Clark feigned disbelief.

Typical old fox, I played along, "He's not just any model. To me, he's like having Ernest back."

"My dear girl," Lord Clark returned to his previous way of addressing me, "you're being foolish."

I said nothing to that. Lord Clark

shook his head slightly, "You must have interacted with Phipps, feeling the difference between him and Ernest. He's not the one you're looking for."

I deliberately showed a hint of sadness, “Yes, but the one I want can't come back. Having someone similar is a small comfort."
