Chapter 1736
Sophie took the fork Colby handed her, thinking for a moment before saying, "Maybe... we shouldn't go back after all." That scene... it was way too intense.
But even though she said that, Sophie and Colby still ended up booking the earliest flight they could find.
As luck would have it, the due date came sooner than anyone expected.
When Sophie and Colby arrived at the airport, Harold was there in a hurry, driving them straight to the city hospital.
Sophie asked, "What's going on? Didn't you say over the phone we had another week or so until the due date?"
"It came early. Adler's not exactly experienced with this kind of thing. We had all the medical equipment and the delivery room ready, but Jenna's water broke out of nowhere, and things got crazy." It was Harold's first time dealing with the chaos of rushing a pregnant woman to the delivery room, and he figured any guy would be frazzled in that situation.
Before long, Sophie and Colby were hurrying down the hospital corridor.
From inside the delivery room, they could hear a woman screaming.
Colby frowned.
Even Harold had to cover his ears.
Sophie asked, "Where's Adler?"
"He's probably already inside. He insisted on being there for the birth, no matter what."
They stood in the hallway, occasionally hearing Jenna shout some pretty colorful language from inside.
Colby's expression shifted.
Jenna was known as a real tough cookie among her friends, someone who wouldn't even flinch if something bad happened. But giving birth? That seemed to be a whole different level of pain. Colby asked, "How long has she been in there?"
The hospital director, noticing Sophie and Colby, came over and said, "Not long, it's only been about an hour."
"An hour? And you call that not long?"

"The length can vary," the director explained. "Some last four to five hours, others might go ten. It all depends."noveldrama
"So, however long it takes, that's how long the pain lasts?"
Colby's face grew more worried as he asked.
"Well..."
The director, seeing Colby's concern, hesitated.

Sophie, catching on to Colby's worry, quickly said, "Ten hours is pretty rare. Plus, I'm not as tough as Jenna. I'd definitely go for the epidural."
As Sophie comforted Colby, she couldn't help but worry about Jenna in the delivery room.
After about two more hours, Harold glanced outside and noticed the sky was starting to lighten.
The agonized cries from the delivery room had mostly quieted down.
When the light above the delivery room turned green, the three of them stood up from their seats in the hallway.
The doctor was the first to come out. Seeing the blood on his gloves, they all felt a moment of panic.
But then the doctor grinned and said, "Mother and son are safe. It's a boy. Ms. Jenna asked for Ms. Sophie to pick a name." "Me? Name him?"
Harold added, "Sophie, you should

Those two never take anything seriously."
That sounded about right.
Sophie looked at the rising sun outside and said, "How about... Alec? Alec, like a sunrise."
What do you think?
