Chapter 1265
However, Jeremy lacked the resolve in his relationship with Natalie and wavered.
Over the past two years, he had grown close to Helena. Though there were no deep feelings involved, he couldn’t deny the physical attraction between them. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
He knew he couldn’t go back to the way things were with Natalie. He had lost her.
Just as he reached for a cigarette, he remembered that he was in a hospital. “Take good care of her,” he said before turning to leave.
Austin raised an eyebrow in surprise: He–furrowed his brow as he watched Jeremy walk away.
That evening, Skylar returned to Janine’s home, Rosestone Residence. Today, Steven had brought Mona home for dinner.
Skylar had initially wanted to help Janine in the kitchen, but Janine firmly refused. She insisted that Mona was not an outsider and had often joined them for meals. She said six dishes were enough for them and urged Skylar to rest.
Seeing Janine so insistent, Skylar decided against offering help. Instead, she thought about tidying up the house, only to realize that Janine was exceptionally capable. The place was spotless.
She settled down on the couch and picked up a book. It was a book about negative items that Minerva had given her.
For the past few days, she had struggled to concentrate on it. But now she had some time, she decided to read it thoroughly.
Earlier, Alexander had told her that they were close to identifying that person. He had advised her not to rush into leaving, as they might have results by the end of the month. She had indeed canceled her flight.
First, she needed to meet Paul before making any further decisions. Janine prepared two dishes and brought them to the table, glancing at Skylar on the couch.
Seeing Skylar so engrossed in her reading made Janine sigh internally. Skylar always evoked a sense of pity in her.
She hoped Joe could return soon if he were still alive. Not wanting Skylar to catch her looking sad, Janine hurried back to the kitchen to finish preparing the remaining four dishes.
She had two burners going, with all the ingredients prepped and chopped, so all she needed to do was stir–fry. Meanwhile, Steven and Mona were on the road.
For some reason, they were stuck in traffic, and it was already 8:00 pm.

“Why don’t I just tell Mrs. Sullivan to proceed with dinner first? I don’t want them waiting for us and letting the food get cold. They might be starving by now,” Mona suggested as she glanced ahead.
The bridge was packed with cars. A nearby night market likely caused the congestion..
Steven checked the navigation, and it showed that the only bottleneck was the last 300 feet.” We’re almost ther
so let’s not worry them. They’ll just insist on waiting for us if we say something.”
“Okay, fine. I’ll look for bridesmaid dresses in the meantime,” Mona said as she pulled out her phone to browse.
As the first of her friends to get married, she wanted to choose the perfect dresses. When her friends saw Steven, they all privately asked her how she managed to snag such a high–quality
guy.
She playfully acted mysterious and told them to check out her book, which had all the answers, but the most important thing was that she was charming enough.
Thinking back on the jokes with her friends made her smile secretly.
“What’s so funny? Tell me,” Steven asked, a smile creeping onto his lips as if he had caught some of Mona’s infectious joy.
Mona was always easy to cheer up. It seemed that anything could make her happy.
“I have no secrets in front of you, Steven. My friends asked how I managed to get you,” Mona replied.
“Oh? What did you say?” Mona’s cheeks flushed slightly, and she avoided Steven’s gaze.
“I said it’s all about my charm. I’m not bragging. It’s the truth! If it weren’t for my charm, how could you have lost control after drinking and ended up with me?”
