Richest Mogul 1273
Chapter 1273
Ned recognized Jeremy. They had some recent business dealings, and personally, he had a good impression of Jeremy. Jeremy was quite capable.
When he heard the name “Mr. Ziegler“, he felt a bit puzzled. “Which Mr. Ziegler are you referring to, Mr. Hughes?”
The surname wasn’t particularly uncommon. Quite a few people with the last name Ziegler held assistant positions.
Jeremy noted the change in Ned’s expression. It was clear that Ned genuinely didn’t know Paul.
Seeing this, Jeremy decided not to say more. He returned to the ward after exchanging a few polite remarks about their collaboration.
Once Jeremy entered the ward, Ned glanced back at it, a look of confusion crossing his face.
“I just ran into Ned and asked if he knew Mr. Ziegler. He said he didn’t. So, regarding why Mr. Ziegler mentioned Ned, we can ask him once he wakes up,” Jeremy said to Skylar.
There couldn’t be that many coincidences in this world.
Skylar’s expression shifted slightly. “Yeah.”
The wait stretched on until evening.
Jeremy had to step out for a while. After eating dinner in the hospital cafeteria, Skylar returned to find that Paul had awakened. She had brought back a meal for him.
“Do you want to eat now?”
Paul looked at Skylar, a bit dazed. He stared at her, wide–eyed, as if trying to process the situation. Noticing his reaction, Skylar didn’t rush. She carefully unpacked the food she had brought and set it on the table.
As she opened the takeout containers, the aroma of the food filled the ward. Sniffling the delicious scents, Paul suddenly snapped back to reality. “This isn’t a dream, is it?” he said softly, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
Skylar felt a pang of sadness as she smiled at Paul. “It’s not a dream. You’re back in Jipsburg. Now, how about some water and dinner?”
At her words, Paul turned his gaze back to Skylar
Paul didn’t blink. His gaze locked on Skylar as if he were trying to confirm something. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
“Did Mr. Martin send you to the hospital to see me, Mrs. Martin? I’m really fine. I just need to
get two IV drips and will be discharged tomorrow. I’ll be able to return to work after that,” Paul said earnestly.
Skylar felt a heaviness in her chest. Her eyes turned slightly red, and her smile suddenly froze. After a long moment, she looked at Paul, who was waiting for her response, and said, “Okay,
you
finish your dinner first, and I’ll let him know in a bit.”
With Skylar’s reassurance, Paul finally felt at ease enough to start eating.
It took Paul less than five minutes to finish his meal. He kept his head down and gulped his food, hardly chewing.
Skylar recalled what Chase had said about Paul’s serious stomach issues, a result of his irregular eating habits and frequent hunger over the years.
“Take your time. There’s no rush,” she gently advised.
It was as if Paul hadn’t heard her at all. He only looked up after finishing his meal, his eyes still unblinking as he stared at Skylar.
This time, Paul didn’t mention going back to work. Instead, he suddenly buried his head in his knees and cried. “I’m sorry, Mrs. Martin. Mr. Martin couldn’t come back with me. If it weren’t for that accident, Mr. Martin and I would have been back already.”
“There’s no need to apologize, Mr. Ziegler. Remember what I said–any accident is not something we want to happen. You and I both wish for nothing unexpected to happen.
“Plus, this is Apollo Hospital, where nearly all the best doctors are located. You’ll receive the most direct and effective treatment. Everything will be okay,” Skylar said soothingly.
Perhaps her words had an effect. The emotionally unstable Paul gradually calmed down and lifted his head.
