Richest Mogul 1272
Chapter 1272
Paul continued to say something, but his voice was too soft, hurried, and anxious to be
understood.
Skylar was still reeling from the shock of hearing Ned’s name. Neither Jeremy, Gene, nor Winthrop, who had come with him from Murida, mentioned that Paul knew Ned.
She understood she might be overthinking it. Ned could simply be a coincidence, as “Ned” was a common first name and might refer to someone else entirely. After all, many people had been imprisoned with Paul at that underground factory.
Paul had been sleeping for two hours and still showed no signs of waking up.
Just then, Jeremy arrived.
Jeremy looked a bit weary as if he hadn’t slept well the night before.
“You said he mentioned Ned?” Jeremy asked, surprised by Skylar’s revelation.
Skylar nodded. “It was just the two of us in the ward, and it was very quiet. I don’t think I
misheard.”
Jeremy looked at the sleeping Paul in disbelief. If he meant the Ned we know, how does he know him?”
That question would have to wait for Paul to wake up and be coherent again.
Skylar pondered aloud. “Jeremy, I have this instinct that Joe is still alive.”
This intuition still sounded unbelievable, yet Skylar couldn’t shake it off.
Jeremy’s expression shifted, but he didn’t respond. For a moment, the ward fell into a profound silence.
After a while, Jeremy spoke again, “What about Natalie and Austin? Do you know anything?”
Skylar looked up at Jeremy. “You haven’t let go of Natalie, have you?”
Jeremy’s gaze darkened, a bittersweet smile on his lips. “Whether I can let go or not doesn’t matter. I just hope she’s happy and that someone cares for her.”
Skylar was taken aback by Jeremy’s sudden clarity. She nodded and said, “I know Austin likes Natalie. She probably has feelings for him, too.”
Jeremy fell silent again. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
A cloud of melancholy seemed to linger around him. The darkness in his eyes deepened. A self- deprecating smile curved his lips. “Both of them seem to have each other in their hearts.”
Then, there was another stretch of silence. Jeremy seemed lost in thought as if caught up in a

memory.
Skylar didn’t disturb him. Sitting on the couch, her mind was also a bit chaotic. Thoughts flickered past her like fleeting shadows, but they were too quick for her to grasp.
About half an hour later, Jeremy received a phone call. The voice on the line was neither loud nor soft, not waking the still–sleeping Paul.
As he stepped out of the room to take the call, he replied, “Sure, I’ll come to your place tonight.

Once in the hallway, he leaned against the wall, listening to Helena gently ask him what he wanted for dinner.
Suddenly, he remembered the barbecue ribs that Natalie–often made for him. “Let’s go with barbecue ribs,” he said before hanging up shortly after.
Just as he was about to head back into the ward, he spotted Ned.
The conversation with Skylar flashed back to his mind, and he quickly walked over. “Mr. Sowle, do you know Mr. Ziegler?” Jeremy asked directly.
