Chapter 198
Chapter 198
Mia was peering at a photo of Andre's mom, with nothing but darkness outside and dim light inside the
room. Normally, this place would give her the creeps, but with her hubby around, she ain't afraid of
nothing.
A little pot stood before a rug, and Andre opened up a piece of paper with test results on it. He lit it up
without a second thought.
Mia piped up, "Honey, what about your dad and Bruce seeing this after you burned it?"
Andre glanced at his cute wife and asked, "Mia, are you scared of my mom's photo?"
Mia took another look at the picture of the woman, who wore a kind smile. She shook her head,
"Maybe she knows I'm your wife and won't scare me."
"Can you stay with me here tonight then?" Andre asked.
Mia nodded. She didn't want to leave her hubby alone in this dark room.
The test results were now ashes.
Holding his wife's hand, Andre addressed the photo, "Mom, we found Molly. It's all thanks to my wife." NôvelDrama.Org © content.
Mia shook her head, shying away from the praise, "It's not me. It's your son's persistence. I even
argued with him at first. But, as it turns out, he was right all along."
"Without Mia, I wouldn't have found Molly." Andre said, looking at his wife who was kneeling beside
him, "Without Mia, I wouldn't have got these test results so soon."
Mia hung her head, slightly guilty. If she had listened to Andre earlier and didn't make things difficult,
they might have got the results even sooner.
"You don't have to worry about Jade. She's never suffered. The Byrnes have always treated her like a
treasure. I've known Jade and Leo since middle school." Mia recalled Leo, the unlucky guy at the
hospital, saying, "For Leo, this situation is a double-edged sword. He only has two good friends. One is
me, now his family; the other is Jade, also his family."
Both Jade and she had become family to Leo. Apparently, it was all written in the stars. They were
meant to be family.
"Maybe it's you, watching us from heaven and making all these coincidences happen, right? You saw
me, liked me, and arranged for me to become good friends with your daughter and grandson. Then you
saw your son alone and found him a wife in me. You're so smart. My husband is great, but he's a bit
cold-hearted. And look at me, here to warm his heart. Although we've never met, I can feel that you
would have liked me. Since you like me so much, you wouldn't mind me sitting on the floor and talking
to you, right?" Mia said.
Mia rubbed her knees. She had been kneeling for quite a while and her legs were getting numb. Andre
noticed and helped her up, "If you can't kneel anymore, then don't. Mom won't be mad."
Mia finally stood up, relieving her sore knees. But standing for too long would also tire her out. So, she
sat on the rug, legs crossed, leaning against Andre's arm and resting on his shoulder. Slowly, she fell
asleep, like a little kitten curled up on her husband's lap.
In the dark room, Andre finally felt guilt-free and less lonely in front of his mom's photo.
"Mom, I found Molly. I finally come to visit you without any guilt. Mia is such a lively, smart, and
adorable girl. With her by my side, I don't feel lonely anymore. I've been searching for Molly for fifteen
years, and she's been my rock for those years. But now, it’s time for a change." Andre said, gently
stroking the cheek of the sleeping Mia.
In the middle of the night, a sleeping Mia was carried back to the bedroom. When she woke up, she
found herself on the bed.
"Huh? Wasn't I chatting with Andre and his mom last night?" Mia was confused.
She noticed that her clothes had been changed. No doubt, that must be the work of Andre, always
taking advantage of her.
As she was about to get out of bed, Andre walked in, "You're awake."
"Yeah, when did you bring me back?" Mia asked.
"Late at night. I think my mom might've been worried you'd get cold, so she told me to bring you back."
Andre said.
With Molly found, Andre seemed more relaxed. He said to his wife on the bed, "Mia, you're my lucky
charm."
Mia joked back, "Sweetie, don't praise me too much. I'm afraid I might mess up and get you mad, then
I'll just be a pain in your ass instead of your lucky charm."
Andre said, "I won't be."
"Don't speak too soon. I can't even control my own faults." Mia said.
Andre was speechless.
Having found his sister, Mia asked her husband while brushing her teeth in the morning, "Sweetie, are
you going to acknowledge Jade as your sister?"
Andre still had a lot to figure out. But now that he had found his sister, he felt at peace. If he hastily
acknowledged Jade as his sister, he was afraid it would shock her.
Andre had also become more calm, "Jade, can you take me to the Byrne's?"
"Sure, no problem." Mia said.
After getting ready, Mia grabbed her backpack and headed off to school. Seeing Jade again, Mia
realized her feelings for Jade were deeper than just friendship. Turned out, Jade was actually her
husband's sister.
She propped her face on her hand, staring at this disabled girl.
"Why are you staring at me?" Jade asked.
Mia said, "Can you believe the crazy twist of fate between the three of us?"
"Can you be more specific?" Jade asked.
Mia shook her head, deciding not to say more.
This time, she wasn't trying to hide anything. It was just that her husband had asked her not to mention
this to Jade in the morning, fearing it might shock her.
For some reason, ever since Mia found out that Jade was her husband's sister, the winter weather
seemed as warm as summer. She had a durian cake for lunch, and a can of Surströmming for
afternoon snack.
Jade said, "Mia, did something good happen? You're eating so much strong-flavored food today."
"Yes, we're celebrating at my house." Mia said, taking another bite of her snack.
A car came to pick her up, it was Andre's Rolls-Royce GHOST. Jade's ride was here too, Chad's Land
Rover. This time, the four of them met. Andre looked at Jade without asking too much. His eyes were
full of tenderness, the kind of care a big brother has for his little sister, "What happened to your foot?"
Jade, seeing Andre smiling at her, somehow didn't feel scared anymore, "I twisted it when I was going
down the stairs."
"Be more careful next time, watch your step." Andre cautioned.
Jade glanced at Mia, who just nodded, then Chad helped her into the car.
Mia told her husband, "Don't you worry, darling. Jade's your sister now, I'll definitely take good care of
her."
Andre slightly turned his head, looking at his wife, "Oh, I didn't know my Mia could take care of people."
