Chapter 243
Chapter 243
Brian showed up pretty late this time, keeping Andre and Mia hanging in the living room.
After about ten minutes of waiting, Brian finally came down from upstairs. He walked up to them with a
smile, "Really sorry, Andre. I was tied up with some work in the study earlier and couldn't attend to you
immediately. Hope you understand."
Mia wasn't a fool; she didn't buy stories easily.
Since she was here to stir things up, there was no need for her to act ladylike.
She chuckled, "Brian, think before you lie. Didn't you sneak a couple of peeks at us from the staircase
corner just now?"
Caught off guard, Brian dodged Mia's question and instead asked her, "…who are you?"
Mia pretended to look surprised and said, "Oh dear, you don't know who I am? At our wedding, we
invited a lot of big shots. Guess we missed inviting you."
Brian's face turned sour at Mia's words.
She was mocking him for not being a big shot.
"We did invite you, it's just that I have a bad memory."
Mia pretended to be surprised again, "It's normal to forget things when you get old, Brian. Are you
eighty already?"
Brian gritted his teeth, "I'm fifty-five."
Mia turned to her husband, "Honey, don't you find it strange that Brian, in his fifties, looks like he's
eighty?"
Andre: His wife's mouth was running wild again, back to her sarcastic ways.
Seemed like she was really pissed about something and her aggressive side was showing again.
Brian was getting a headache from Mia's words. He was an adult, he couldn't just blabber like Mia. He
said, "Mrs. Cedillo, you really lack manners."
Mia: "Brian, you're really impolite too."
Andre cut off their chatter, he was here for Leo. "Where's my nephew?"
That brought Brian back to the agenda. He signaled the butler who went to get Leo from the backyard.
While waiting for Leo, Brian cautiously reminded Andre, "Andre, I saved your life once. You should
repay kindness with kindness. I don't ask for anything, but you can't let your nephew mess around in
my shop, scaring away my customers. That's too much, don't you think?"
Andre lazily replied, "Brian, how do you know I let my nephew mess around in your shop? Why would I
let him do that? I won't take responsibility for something I didn't do. If you can't clear things up today,
this matter might… not be over."
He chuckled looking at Brian, giving off an intimidating vibe, making Brian unable to meet his eyes.
Andre's aura was overpowering Brian, his patience with the Marshal family was running thin, and he
wasn't hiding it anymore.
Soon Leo arrived.
Seeing him being pushed in with his arms pressed, Mia clenched her fists.
The Marshal family was really humiliating people. Only those arrested would be forcefully pushed into a
room. Although Leo didn't have any physical injuries, he looked a bit hunched when he entered.
Mia's small hand was suddenly tightly held by a large hand. She turned to look at Andre, who wasn't
looking at her.
Andre didn't fix his gaze on her, and he was just smiling at Brian, his gazes cold as ice, as if he wanted
to shred Brian into pieces. He seemed calm, even when seeing his nephew being humiliated, he could
still smile. "Brian, can you tell me how my nephew was affecting your business?"
Brian answered: "Nothing major, just broke a few glasses."
Andre nodded, "Seems like your glasses are very valuable, requiring you to detain my nephew. Give
me a price, I'll have someone pay it back."
Leo came up to them, looking very serious, exuding an Andre-like calm demeanor. However, he was
still quite young, with only a slight resemblance in his facial features.
He sat next to Andre, not saying a word.
Brian said: "Just have this kid apologize, it's not like the stuff is expensive."
Maybe because Andre was backing him up, Leo's character immediately showed, "Why should I
apologize, I didn't make you apologize, do you still expect me to apologize? How do you have the
audacity to expect an apology from me?" His seriousness earlier was all an act, he gave himself away
as soon as he opened his mouth.
Mia kept quiet, she picked up the water glass from the table, checked its material, then forcefully threw
it towards Brian's feet. The glass hit the floor making a crisp sound before shattering.
Water splashed on Brian's leather shoes.
He glared at Mia, but she wasn't scared at all. She turned to Brian, "Sorry, my hand slipped."
When others' hands slipped, things just dropped. But when Mia's hand slipped, things flew away.
However, nobody dared to object.
Mia asked again, "So, are you going to detain me? Or, should I apologize?"
Brian felt Mia was here just to cause trouble.
"Mrs. Cedillo, I don't know how your father raised you, you're so rude." All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
Mia retorted: "I also don't know how your father raised you, you're still daydreaming when you know
you’re nearing the end of his life." Expecting Leo to apologize for a broken glass? He must be
dreaming.
"Mia, you should watch your words." Jillian, who had been eavesdropping for a while, hadn't come out
till now.
Mia responded: "Well, you and your father are alike in that you both enjoy sneakily observing and
eavesdropping on others. It's the same in your behavior too – both of you like to appear kind on the
surface while scheming against others behind their backs."
She indirectly criticized Brian and Jillian, they were clearly present but didn't come down, just peeking
from the staircase. She also criticized them for acting nice on the surface but playing tricks behind the
back.
Jillian pointed at Mia's face, "Mia, with such behavior, aren't you afraid Andre will look down on you?"
"Regrettably, Andre seems to have a thing for my attitude, and he's head over heels for me. He doesn't
just like my personality, he quite fancies my badass, take-no-prisoners approach. Ms. Jillian, can you
just stand there and let me vent a bit more?"
"You!" Jillian grabbed a cup of water from the table, ready to throw it at Mia.
Andre was quick to respond, he grabbed his cup and tossed it precisely at Jillian's hand.
Before Jillian's water could even make a splash, Andre's cup had already smashed hers to pieces.
Nobody expected Andre to have such a sharp aim.
Mia's mouth dropped open in surprise. She thought her husband was super cool right now. "Honey,
teach me how to do that! I want to learn that amazing cup-throwing trick."
Andre was speechless. Was now the time for her to be praising her husband? "I'll teach you at home."
Mia nodded excitedly.
Jillian was a little bit in shock, holding onto the shattered glass, completely taken aback.
Just then, Brian's phone rang. Seeing that it was from the company, he got up and walked away to
answer it.
"Hello."
"Brian, there's been an incident..."
