The Beta’s Regret

(Eden's Pov)

The next morning, I woke up feeling better than I did the first night.

I was beginning to adapt to the way the women lived here, and I couldn't say it was a good thing.

The maids were already in the room, they held new clothes and water which the girls used to change. That was when I noticed a maid holding some clothes beside me.

"You should change." She said,

I nodded and began to dress up. I dipped my hand into the bowl of water and washed my face and some part of my body, then dried it off with a towel and wore the new dress given to me.

I was barely done dressing up when the dungeon gate opened and the same warriors that came in with Arthur yesterday swept inside with an hostile air.

Some of the girls who were still half naked scrambled to the side, pulling off any piece of clothing to keep themselves decent.

This got the attention of the warriors who smirked in satisfaction. It was obvious they had planned to catch the women half naked in the first place, just to feed the lust in their eyes.

I zipped off my clothes completely and raised my chin in the air when their eyes caught mine.

"Come here." They signaled at me with their finger

I moved forward, and was suddenly grabbed by the arm as the warriors pulled me out.

Behind me, I heard murmurs.

I knew what it was all about. The one thing I have noticed in the short time I spent here, was that none of the women belonged to a particular warriors. They were usually chosen at random by different warriors to satisfy their sexual lust. Having a particular warrior choose you more than one, two days in a row meant that he was taking a peculiar interest in you.

The women were jealous.

This was the second time Arthur was calling two days in a row. They knew Arthur had special interest in me.

I kept mute, refusing to respond to the whispers behind me. Instead, I looked back at them and gave a soft smile.

I would need these women, each and every one of them including the girls if I wanted to impeach Pison.

Some of the women snickered rudely back at me, but I ignored it and stepped out of the dungeon as I was dragged along.

My heart was in my throat.

My hope was tied to Arthur helping me out. If he ever decided to back out, that would mean that my plans were ruined and I couldn't allow that. I needed to save my people.

In a few minutes, I stood before Arthur once more. He pointed towards the feast on the table.

"Sit," he said softly. "You need strength."

Compared to the day before, I found it difficult to swallow down the food I chewed. My mind was occupied with everything I needed to do.

"When do we start?" I finally asked when I couldn't take the silence anymore. "We don't have time." I added it quickly.

I could tell he was thinking. But every passing moment hit me with a feeling of dread.

In a few hours, it would be too late. The ritual must be stopped.

Arthur looked at me. "I have a plan."

I sat up, my ears perked in attention "what is it?"

"I will send my men to the dungeon, and release Adonis and Beauty. I don't know if I will be able to

succeed, but I will also try to release Ryker. That will give us more men on our sides."

I nodded. "What about Lily? Pison plans to use her to renew his powers."

Alex shook his head. "He won't be able to. I will make sure I rescue her from him before the blood moon starts.

"How do you intend to do that? Pison keeps Lily in his chambers. It won't be easy to get to her." I warned.

Arthur chuckled. "I know. But I think I should be able to manage that."

I was scared. Goosebumps rose on my skin as I shivered. There was no assurance that Arthur and I would succeed, but we had to try everything we could.

I closed my eyes and fervently begged the moon goddess to help us, and that Pison would not be able to figure out our plans before we executed it.

All I could do was to pray and hope

I hoped the Eros and my son Zion

were safe, I hoped that Arthur and I would win this one. I hoped that the people who have been trapped down by Pison would fight back, that the women and girls would be able to resist being controlled and seek freedom.

By the time dinner was over, Arthur stood up. "You should go now. I will see you off, before I attend to the other issues.

I stood up, and followed Arthur to the entrance.

Arthur pushed the door open, and my eyes widened in shock when I saw King Pison and Alpha Griffin standing before us.

Fuck!

There was no shock on their faces. It was almost as if they were expecting to see me there.

Pison entered the room, the temperature dropped a few degrees as I shivered. He took me by the arm and forced me to sit back on a dining chair. Pison sat comfortably at the head where Arthur sat a few minutes ago.

I watched in horror as Arthur bowed in submission and stood beside Pison with a serious unreadable expression.

I was torn. I had no idea what was happening.

Did Arthur betray me? Does Pison already know about the plans? Was that why he was here with Alpha Griffin?

I frowned. could see the scar that

ran across Alpha Griffin's face. And I

guessed he got it from the fight he had with my Father. He was still alive and doing fine despite that.

I watched in silence as my heart began to beat faster than usual while I awaited my fate.
