Hayden looked closely at Joseph. But he seemed to be behaving as usual, as if he hadn’t heard what they had said. Then she sighed in relief.

Stella and Noah still wanted to go to the hill to play, but Harrison was no longer interested. Hayden wondered if Harrison would still be thinking about Joseph’s parents. He regretted his rashness during lunch, so he asked Stella and Noah to accompany Harrison to his studio.

Hayden told Stella, “Harrison is upset now. Be a good girl, and try to make him happy.”

Even though she was a child, Stella was pretty smart. She blinked, “Why is he upset? Is it because you won’t agree to marry Joseph?”

Hayden patted Stella on the head, “It’s not because of that. If he’ll listen to me?”

“Okay, I will.” Stella touched her head and pouted, “Mommy! Don’t tap me on the head! I want to grow up more.”

Hayden rubbed Stella’s head, “Okay, I won’t tap you anymore. Go on, go upstairs with Noah.”

Stella used to be a naughty girl. However, she was enthusiastic about making others happy, so she took Noah by the hand and ran upstairs. She even grimaced at Hayden as she ran up, “Yes, ma’am!”.

Joseph was reading a book on the couch. After hearing Stella’s lovely voice, he lifted his head from the book and saw that Hayden was standing on the stairs, telling the kids to slow down.

With the bright sunlight streaming in through the window, Hayden decided to get some sun.

Talking over the brand spokesperson with the advertising department executive, Hayden was interrupted by knocking on the door.

“Miss Downey.” In came Anna, “Leon’s assistant brought you some gifts, where would you like to put them?”.

Hayden was confused, “What gifts?”.

“He told me you had given him a coat. But he stained it, so he bought you new ones.” Anna said, in amazement.

The executive asked bluntly, “Is he your friend?”.

“No.” Hayden shot her a look. He didn’t quite understand what Anna said, so he replied, “Just a coat, put it on the couch, take care of that.”

Anna didn’t know what to do, “I can’t take care of this by myself.”

Anna opened another side of the door and in walked two young women with a stack of bags. The corner of the office was soon piled with those bags.

Hayden stared at the corner, “Wasn’t that just a coat, what’s all this stuff for?”.

Anna asked the assistant to explain. “Wait, please tell Miss Downey what’s going on.”

The assistant rubbed his head, “Leon said the mall was no longer selling the coat you gave her. So he felt sorry for you, that’s why he bought all the clothes of that brand, including the accessories. They are all her size.

Anna and the executive looked into each other’s eyes in surprise.

This brand was very broad. Leon could have spent his entire commission on this large purchase, he was very generous with his money.

Hayden frowned, “No need, it’s just a coat. Take the clothes and return them.”

“We came to bring you the clothes.” He waved his hand, “We can’t take it back. If you don’t want the clothes, you’d better tell her yourself. Don’t make it difficult for us, please.”

Anna was a little confused, but started calculating the price without asking any more questions. Ten minutes later, she gave Hayden a total number, “That’s the total price.”

“Thank you.” Hayden nodded and looked at his watch, “It’s getting late you can go home now.”

“Okay.”

After Anna left, Hayden found Leon’s bank account and wired him the money.

He took a breath and sat down. Looking at the amount of the transfer, she felt regretful.

She would never have given him her coat if she had known she had to pay him a lot of money to make up for those clothes.

The next morning, Hayden was eating breakfast when his phone started ringing.

“It’s my phone.” Hayden looked at the screen. It was Anna.

But she hadn’t even gotten ready to leave.

She answered the phone. “Hello?”

“Miss Downey, are you out?” Anna sounded anxious.

“Not yet. What’s up?” Hayden sat down at the table and continued to eat, “What happened?”

“I may have to come in from the subway parking garage. Something’s happening on the Internet.”

“What’s going on?” Hayden was confused.

Anna sounded rather crestfallen, “Someone took a picture of all the clothes Leon sent you and posted it on the internet. Now Leon’s fans are fighting on the internet.”
