The CEO’s little ones

Chapter 308

Chapter 308:.

Although it was quite warm in the market, Hayden felt like his blood was almost freezing in his veins.

Then he saw Joseph on the escalator, but hesitated. Besides, he avoided his attention by hiding behind the billboard.

And now he had a clear picture of the woman.

Noah’s supposed mother was young, wearing a white sweater and brown snow boots, her hair fell over her shoulders, and she wore a gray coat over her arm. Overall, she looked unexpectedly neat and tidy.

Hayden thought it must be that woman he had seen earlier.

Joseph and the woman were going to the second floor and each was carrying a paper bag from a mother and baby store.

The woman said something to him and, to Hayden’s surprise, he smiled.

Hayden watched them leave the building and get into a car.

At the door, he could hear nothing but the sigh of the cold wind.

Back home, he lay down after taking a bath as usual and tried to calm down, hoping he could pretend he didn’t know anything when Joseph returned.

The woman who suddenly appeared must be a liar, but it is impossible for Hayden to tell Joseph directly that the woman did not give birth to Noah.

That’s because Joseph wouldn’t want to hear that unless Hayden revealed the whole story.

She had only two choices: tell the truth or make up another lie, which completely upset her.

It’s late, and a guy was sitting by the bedside in a suite at the N-Town Hotel. Actually, he wasn’t drunk and even seemed sober, as well as a little cruel.

His phone rang and he answered it after glancing at the caller ID.

“Hello?”

“Have you finished your homework?” A man asked him on the other end of the line, “It’s been days, you promised me.”

“I have to slow down, she’s not like the other women I’ve met before.”

“I know! I’ve warned you. No need to be her boyfriend, but some private videos are your target, no matter the means. I remember I gave you some pills.”

Speaking of pills, Leon saddened. He fixed his eyes on a small paper pocket on the nightstand.

“Yes, I put them in a glass of wine, but he didn’t drink it.”

“So, what did you do tonight, did you record it when he took you to the hotel?”.

“No, I couldn’t record.” Leon paused for a few seconds and then continued, “I took a cab tonight. Next time I’ll give you what you want.”

“I have to remind you that time is short. You must complete your mission; otherwise, I will not give you the money to pay your gambling debts.” Hearing these words, Leon’s face gradually paled.

He hung up the call and the room was silent again. The air smelled of alcohol, but he seemed to catch a different hint as he took a deep breath; it was from the white robe on the clothesline.

Then the sternness in her eyes faded.

The next morning, the sun came out.

A ray of sunlight streamed through the window curtains into Hayden’s face, so bright that he frowned and covered it with his hand. He woke fully awake and sat up with an expressionless expression.

When had he fallen asleep?

The house was quiet and another pillow was tidy, proving that Joseph hadn’t come home.

Suddenly, Hayden remembered what happened last night.

At that moment, the outside door was open. She was stunned and quickly got out of bed to open the bedroom door.noveldrama

“Jo…”

Benjamin had two breakfasts in his hand, and stood in the doorway changing his shoes. Hearing the noise, she raised her head to find Hayden standing in front of the room, she was surprised to see him and was suddenly silent.

“Hayden, what are you doing?”.

“Oh, nothing.” Hayden pulled himself together quickly, “I didn’t know it was you. You’re back early today.”

“Yeah, I have to go get something, plus I came to tell you I have a rehearsal at school and I think I have to stay out for a few days. I also brought you something for breakfast.” The food he brought was enough for two people, which apparently included Joseph’s.

“I don’t know what kind of food you prefer so I bought everything.”

But he had always been sharp, so he had already silently noticed that Hayden was distracted. There seemed to be some problems between her and Joseph, as Joseph hadn’t come home last night.

Hayden sat down at the table. Although she started to listen to Benjamin, she was still a bit gawking.

Benjamin handed her a cup of soy milk with a straw and said, “It’s hot and fresh.”

“Thank you.” Hayden replied quietly.

Benjamin discovered that she was not drinking the milk, so he asked, “What happened to you?”.

Hayden replied, “Nothing. Don’t worry.”

“Has Joseph done something you’re not happy with?”.

Hearing her conjecture, Hayden asked with furrowed brows, “How do you know?”

“It’s obvious.” She sighed, “Since the day I became friends with you, I’ve found that whenever you have mood swings, Joseph is responsible. What did he do this time?”

Hearing ‘this time’ she felt so depressed that it felt like someone was choking her.

“No, he hasn’t done anything to me.” Hayden refused to continue the conversation as he didn’t want to reveal the truth of Noah’s birth to her, “A relationship is always a jungle. And, hadn’t you come back to get something? Mind your own business.”

Realizing that she was unwilling to talk further, Benjamin went back to his room and took what he wanted to school.

At the Downey Group, Hayden arrived an hour earlier than usual. The guard at the gate was yawning as he opened the door. Noticing Hayden, he immediately opened his eyes pretending to be full of energy.

“Good morning, Miss Downey.”

Hayden nodded in response and took the elevator to the tenth floor. The entire floor was dark, before he turned on the light, he glimpsed a dim light coming from the treasurer’s office.

He hesitated for a moment and entered the office without turning on the light.

The door was ajar and a dim light was visible. Behind the desk was Joseph, sleeping on it.

Hayden paused in the doorway and puzzled over the previous night.

She didn’t understand why he had stayed out all night, but now she could guess that he had slept here after saying goodbye to that woman.

This company had nothing to do with him, but since she was not competent, he was willing to help her. He was so kind to her that it was hard for her to understand why he didn’t even mention a word about the woman.
