The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 196

Chapter 196

Adrian commented on Cordelia's social media post. [Cordelia, since Mr. Evans has made his intentions

clear, you should have a kid with him.]

His remark disgusted Cordelia, so she ignored him.

Adrian sat on the couch, disappointed to see that Cordelia didn't respond to his comment.

Fresh from the shower, Kendra walked over. "What are you doing?" Kendra asked Adrian.

"I'm checking out Cordelia's Facebook. Mr. Evans is pressuring her to have a kid. Once she does, she'll

have a solid place in the Evans family. That'll raise my status as her relative too." Adrian lounged on

the couch, feet kicked up, full of anticipation.

He showed Kendra Cordelia's Facebook.

"Cordelia's complicated. She doesn't want to have Mr. Evans' kid, but maybe she's playing hard to get.

She's not willing to, but there are plenty of women who'd jump at the chance to bear Mr. Evans' kid."

Kendra mused, thinking about Ronan's luxurious mansion and his untouchable lifestyle.

"Have his kid? Who? You? Don't forget, you're carrying my child. I won't have him calling some other

man 'dad.'" Adrian gave Kendra's belly a nudge with his foot, then kicked her butt. "Jamie's not

interested in you, and Ronan's even less interested. I'm the only one who appreciates you in this world.

You don't have parents, no family background, and your only house is still a bare shell after six or

seven years. You don't have money, but you're always dreaming."

Kendra, provoked by Adrian's blunt words, threw her comb at him in anger. A few scratches appeared

on Adrian's face.

Adrian was right, Kendra's dreams were too big for her tough reality. Jamie wasn't interested in her,

and after the thing with Manda, she lost interest in Jamie too; Ronan didn't even give her a second

glance. She was carrying Adrian's child out of desperation because there were no better men around.

"I'm pregnant, and you have nothing, what am I supposed to do?" Kendra retorted angrily, "I'm going to

abort this child. You're just a driver, and even your house is rented. You don't have a stable income. NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

You want the child to suffer with you?"

"How dare you!" Adrian bolted up from the couch, "You dare try!"

"I'm going to abort this child! Otherwise, the child will be laughed at in the future." Kendra declared.

Adrian thought for a moment, then suggested, "What about getting engaged?"

"How could I possibly get engaged to you? Your family is so poor." Kendra got mad just thinking about

the measly amount of money Shelley had given as a gift. No doubt the Haselwood family wouldn't even

be able to afford a wedding.

She had no parents and no one to fight for her rights. Thinking about this made Kendra feel unbearably

sad, and she broke down crying.

Adrian tried to comfort her. “Don’t cry, baby, I’m here.”

“What use is you being here!” Kendra snapped.

“I might not have much, but I do have a wealthy brother-in-law. I could try asking him to give me this

house under the guise of engagement, then we could sell it. That could get us a few million at least. We

could buy a smaller place, and the leftover money would be enough for us to live on. Maybe we

wouldn’t even need to sell the house, and he might even give us more.” Adrian started daydreaming.

“When are we getting engaged?” Kendra asked, excited at the thought of meeting Ronan.

Adrian’s suggestion seemed like a good idea. In her eyes, Ronan was a real man.

“We can’t drag this out; we need to sort it out as soon as possible. How about getting engaged in two

weeks? I need to talk to mom first. You should demand a hefty wedding gift.” Adrian said, “She owes

me so much over the years, and I want to see how she’ll deal with this. I guess she had to ask for help

to her beloved daughter.”

Kendra wiped her tears, although she felt bad about appearing greedy in Ronan’s eyes. But then again,

she would never end up with Ronan in this life. He was like a painting on a wall, unreachable. In reality,

money was what mattered. With that thought, she felt relieved.

“Call your mom now.” Kendra urged Adrian.

“It’s already midnight, and mom’s probably asleep. We'll talk in the morning."

The next day, while Cordelia was having breakfast, Shelley's phone rang. To be honest, Shelley was

troubled the moment she answered Adrian's call.

"Mom, I've decided to get engaged. But the girl's asking for a wedding gift worth fifty grand. The house

isn't mine, so she needs some sort of security."

Shelley needed a moment to process, "That much?"

"She's pregnant with my child. I don't have a choice."

"What?" Shelley was alarmed.

She was initially thinking of lowering the gift amount, but the girl was already pregnant...

"Mom, who's on the phone?" Cordelia asked Shelley.

"Your brother," Shelley replied, somewhat flustered.

"My brother?" Cordelia's eyes widened, "What does my brother want from you?" Adrian wouldn't

usually call Shelley unless he needed something.

"Nothing much, he was just asking if we had any money left at home. You should head back to the

Evans' once you're done with breakfast."

Shelley knew Adrian called her just to get her to pass the message to Cordelia. He knew Shelley had

no money. But Shelley didn't want to cause trouble for Cordelia.
