The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 197

Chapter 197

Cordelia returned to the Evans' household with a puzzled look. As usual, Ronan was in his natural

habitat, on their couch, engrossed in a book. He was not the social butterfly type.

"You're back?" he asked.

"Yep."

"I got someone to drop off some leaflets. Have a look." He said to Cordelia. NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

Leaflets? Cordelia was confused, not knowing what he was referring to. She picked them up and

realized they were flyers for baby and prenatal checkups and even the baby's first month photoshoot...

She gasped. This guy was really on top of things.

"Which hospital do you plan to go to?” He asked, as if Cordelia had already agreed to have a baby.

"What... what do you mean?" she asked.

Ronan shifted his gaze from his book to Cordelia, "You want a kid, don't you?"

"When did I say that?" Cordelia got agitated, and her voice raised. "I don't want kids. I haven't even

passed my financial management certification exam, how could I possibly have a kid? I still have my

career to worry about."

"Oh? Did I get it wrong?" Ronan asked.

"You're way off!" Cordelia quickly retorted. She then went to the bedroom to change.

Cordelia had a hunch that Ronan was somewhat pressuring her into having a child with him. He

brought these flyers home just to test the waters with her.

At night, after Ronan climbed into bed, he nuzzled against Cordelia's face. His hormonal scent always

made Cordelia nervous.

Cordelia wondered if she should tell him about his parents' impending return. He didn't exactly have a

loving relationship with them. If they suddenly showed up without his knowledge, it might lead to some

awkward situations.

"Don't get too close to him, or else I might do something you'll regret," Ronan warned.

"Who?" she asked.

"Who do you think?" Ronan counter-questioned.

Cordelia instantly realized he was talking about Jamie. She recalled when Manda said, "Keep your

body pure," she had exchanged a glance with Jamie. But how did he know? Was he omnipresent?

Suddenly, Ronan pulled Cordelia into his arms and laid her flat on the bed.

"What are you doing?" Cordelia asked in surprise.

She didn't see him put on a condom. She was scared.

"Sex. Of course." he answered.

Cordelia was taken aback, "No. We're in a contract marriage, and we already set a divorce date. If

we're going to have a baby, we need to renegotiate the price!"

"Contract marriage?" Ronan laughed, "That's in the past!"

"But I don't want to have your baby!"

"I already told you, it's not up to you." With that, Ronan was about to get down to business.

"Well, it's not up to you either!" Cordelia retorted.

"Not up to me?" Ronan scoffed, "Not up to me, huh?"

"That's not what I meant, let me... let me pass my CPA exam first, okay?" Cordelia pleaded. She knew

she was at a disadvantage in bed. No matter how forcefully she spoke, she could potentially provoke

Ronan. And if she did, there would be no room for negotiations.

"No!" Ronan was adamant.

In this urgent situation, Cordelia had no choice but to reveal. "Your parents are coming back soon, did

you know?"

As expected, Ronan stopped. "When?"

"In the next few days."

Ronan rolled off Cordelia and lay on the other side of the bed.

The next morning, Cordelia got up earlier than Ronan. She had no idea when he had fallen asleep.

When Cordelia was eating breakfast downstairs, Ronan just finished rolling up his sleeves and

descended the stairs.

"Don't get too cocky. We still have a long road ahead," he glared at Cordelia.

Cordelia immediately wiped the smug look off her face, "Who's being cocky?"

However, Cordelia could tell from his tone that he might be catching a cold. He probably didn't cover

himself properly last night while contemplating and got sick.

Cordelia could only eat her breakfast in silence, hoping he could keep his temper in check.
