Chapter 295
Chapter 295
A few days ago, Samantha officially became part of The High Society production team. It was a decent
gig, where she played the role of the fifth wife to a Duke. Although it was a villainous character, it had
some sympathetic traits. She reckoned that once the show was aired, it might win her a modest
fanbase. After signing the contract, she received an advance payment of three hundred thousand,
which she used to rent a house for her family in Millstone, alleviating some of the pressure previously
put on her by Sienna.
As for her annoying grandmother, she couldn't let her monopolize a house in Roseville. The house was
listed online but hadn't been rented out yet. Therefore, she had no choice but to bring her grandmother
here.
Today, Deanna stormed into the set, complaining that Samantha left without finalizing her next project
with her agent.
Samantha officially broke ties with Deanna.
Once a nobody, Samantha was now infamous among the crew members, thanks to the slap she had
received. Samantha remained silent, covering her face, looking pitiful. She was crying all the while.
It was a well-known fact in the industry that Deanna was a diva, so when she hit her former assistant,
everyone voiced their sympathy for Samantha, saying that Deanna had pushed her luck too far and
would eventually meet her downfall. With a glance at the crew members, Deanna walked away.
Deanna harbored a grudge against The High Society production team. They didn't even ask her, a top-
tier actress, if she wanted to participate. Instead, they actually approached one of her assistants.
Although Samantha had a tough day and wasn't in a good mood, the silver lining was that she had
become more acquainted with the people on the set, broadening her network. In comparison to
Cordelia, she might still be considered the underdog in life, but things were looking up. She believed
that one day, she would become more successful than Cordelia.
Seeing Cordelia's prominent baby bump and the fact that Ronan was accompanying her, Samantha
was filled with jealousy and anger.
Looking at the untouched cup of tea in front of Ronan, Samantha's inferiority complex seemed to be
choking her. Was he repulsed by her house, or did he suspect her mother had poisoned the tea?
Samantha's anger was at its peak.
…
Ronan glanced around the house. It was spacious and he was bored. He had finished flipping through
his magazine while Cordelia was still chatting with her grandmother.
“Is it rented or bought?”
“Ah, rented, eight thousand a month,” Samantha replied.
“Not bad.”
“It’s ok.” Samantha thought Ronan was starting a conversation with her, but he quickly fell silent.
Samantha felt awkward. Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
“I’ll go get some water for grandma and Cordelia.” Samantha stood up and went to her grandmother's
room.
Cordelia was chatting with her grandmother, who was a bit confused due to her age.
Cordelia felt that when she visited her grandmother again this time, she had aged significantly. Her
grandmother was already quite elderly, and now, there was a sense of being engulfed in the aura of old
age, as if she was surrounded by the passage of time.
“Where’s your mom? Why didn’t she come?” Her grandmother asked, patting Cordelia’s hand.
“My mom?” Cordelia paused, thinking that her uncle and aunt probably hadn't told her grandmother to
prevent her from worrying.
“We haven’t told her,” Samantha whispered into Cordelia’s ear, “Don’t let it slip.”
Cordelia thought: As I suspected.
She felt a warm feeling inside. Little did she know that the reason they hadn’t told her grandmother was
because, in the eyes of her uncle and aunt, Shelley had long been dead. Her death wasn't important to
them, and her grandmother's feelings were even less so. They wouldn’t bother telling her.
“She's at home. She sent me to check on you," Cordelia replied.
“Where’s the ring?” Grandma, whose mind wasn't very sharp, suddenly asked.
Cordelia was puzzled. “What ring?”
“Your ring.”
Cordelia thought hard, but couldn't remember any ring.
