Chapter 296
Chapter 296
Samantha had initially entered her grandmother's room to defuse the awkward tension left by Ronan.
She placed a glass of water on the table and planned to leave immediately. But curiosity piqued her
interest. What kind of ring was it?
"It's the ring for you," Grandma fretted, her agitation evident.
Cordelia and Ronan had only registered their marriage without a ceremony, so she didn't have a ring,
and she had never bought one herself. At this moment, she wasn't sure what kind of "ring" her
grandmother was referring to.
Suddenly, she remembered the ring Shelley had given her as proof of her lineage. That ring was
always kept in Cordelia's purse, untouched. She wasn't even sure if it was still there.
"I'll find it," she said, rummaging through her canvas bag.
To her surprise, she found it. "This one?" Cordelia handed the ring to her grandmother.
Grandma's eyesight wasn't the best, so she held it up to examine it.
At the sight of this ring, Samantha's heart tightened. Being an actress, she was familiar with props and
knew that this was an emerald ring. It seemed that Cordelia's family was quite wealthy.
Samantha wondered how she could get the ring for herself.
Just then, the door creaked open.
Samantha knew that Ronald was back. She quickly sent a message to Sienna on WhatsApp: [Mom,
start a fight with Dad ASAP. Get Cordelia out of here.]
Sienna was surprised by the message, but she owed Samantha for their move from Roseville to here.
Starting a fight with Ronald didn't require any pretext. Her anger towards Ronald bubbled up instantly.
"Coming home this late? Where have you been? You hardly earn anything, but you sure spend a lot."
Sienna spat out harshly.
Ronald had changed since his leg became paralyzed. He was quiet before, but now he was somewhat
deranged. He had just finished a day's work and couldn't stand his wife's nagging. "Have I done
something to upset you? You're the one who's always causing trouble!" Ronald retorted.
As expected, they started arguing.
Ronan sat in a chair, observing the ugly spectacle of a middle-aged couple fighting, without uttering a
word.
"What's going on with my parents? I'll go check." Samantha seemed to mutter something to herself.
"Uncle Ronald's back. I'll go greet him," Cordelia said, worried that the argument would escalate out of Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
control.
Samantha, appearing to give way to Cordelia, opened the door for her, following her out.
Once Cordelia left, Samantha quickly returned to her grandmother and sternly said, "Give it to me."
She pocketed Cordelia's ring.
"Eh...," Grandma tried to speak, but Samantha had already closed the door.
Outside, Ronald and Sienna continued their heated argument. Even though Ronald saw Ronan sitting
comfortably on the couch, he didn't greet him. In addition, seeing Ronan dressed in expensive clothes,
he felt inferior and his anger intensified.
"Say that again!" Ronald threatened, picking up a broom and advancing towards Sienna.
"Ah. I'm going to be killed. My husband is going to hit me, because he can't make money outside. He
wants to kill his own wife!" Sienna shrieked.
"Who the hell wants to kill you? I don’t want to dirty my hands!" Ronald yelled, hopping on his foot.
"Cordelia, I'm really sorry for the scene. You should go with Mr. Evans. You're pregnant, and I don't
want to scare the baby. I'm really sorry for airing our dirty laundry," Samantha apologized, pushing
Cordelia forward.
Cordelia reached out to pat Ronald's hand, "Uncle, calm down. A peaceful family leads to prosperity."
"Della, you're leaving?" Ronald's anger subsided slightly at the sight of Cordelia.
"Yeah we are living. Please, don’t fight with Sienna," After Cordelia finished speaking, she waved her
hand towards Ronan.
Ronan rose from the couch and left. He was tired of the atmosphere in this house.
They both went downstairs.
