THE LYCAN KING’S SECOND CHANCE MATE

Chapter 0263

Chapter 263

ASHANTI'S POV.

I watch in horror as the unsmiling female guard approaches me. My breaths are coming in too hard and I nearly pass out the moment she stands in front of me with her gaze boring into holes into my face. She's one of the many Pack subjects who hate me. I shoot a nervous glance at Alpha Reagan and see that his search has already begun.

“Can I?” The woman standing in front of me asks and I turn to her. I swallow dryly, nod my head in

agreement and step forward.

“Lift your arms, please.”

I do just that. I stretch my arms wide by my side and a shiver vibrates through me when she places

hands on the side of my ribs and starts to pat me downwards. The dress I'm wearing is an off shoulder gown that hugs my body to the level of my waist and and continues with a high split flay and flushes on the floor. The design of the dress is a bit complicated, but searching me will be easy and it's just a matter of seconds before she's…

A strange feeling at the right hip snaps me out of my thoughts and I look down to see what she's doing.

“What's this?” She asks, looking up at me and my eyes go to what she's pointing at. It's a small split

at the level of the region where the flayed part of the dress starts.

“I… I don't know. I haven't even noticed that before.” My voice is hoarse and I've begun to panic.

I didn't notice that split before. I didn't even look at the dress because I was so upset that Lizzy was insistent on me wearing it.

“Haven't you?” Her voice is masked with disbelief. I shriek in fright when I feel her fingers dig into the split. My eyes widen when I realise what it is. It's not a split, but a pocket. A real tiny pocket that's easy to miss. With my heart in my throat, I watch the woman pull out a tiny black plastic bag

from the pocket and plants her gaze on me.

“What's this?” She asks, bringing the plastic up to my face so I can get a proper view of it.

“I don't know.” I'm shaking my head like a lizard, scared to the bone. “I swear I don't know what that is. I have no idea how it got into my dress.” My voice is a nervous shaky mess. The look of total disbelief on the woman's face makes my heart race even harder.

What's going on here?

“I found something.” She announces to everyone as she turns to face them, holding up the tiny plastic bag.

“What's that?” Alpha Reagan asks as he approaches her.

“That's what I’m about to find out.” She brings it closer to her nostrils and I nearly faint when she quickly throws it away after sniffing and takes several steps away from it with horror-filled eyes. “Wolfsbane!” The entire room is filled with gasps from the others, including myself as everyone

takes several steps away from the spot where the plastic has been thrown.

“What the hell do you mean?” Alpha Reagan questions as he walks towards the plastic. Without any fear in the world, he picks up the plastic and sniffs it. The look on his face tells me it's exactly what the woman had said it was. He drops it on the floor and takes a step back.

“How… how…”

“She's the culprit!” Mr. Williams starts screaming again, this time around, pointing at me with so much anger. “Seize her! She poisoned my daughter!”

“This is nonsense!” Alpha Reagan roars in fury and everyone goes mute. His heated gaze drops on my face before flickering to the angry looking old man standing below. There's smoke coming out of his ears and he looks like he's going to combust any second from now.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

This is that bad feeling I had.

“It’s impossible for Ashanti to have done this because she has been at my place for the past few

days. She has had no access to the outside world! There's no way she could have acquired wolfsbane and planned to do this. This is preposterous!” Alpha Reagan defends me and my heart nearly bursts with emotions.

My mate is defending me against all these people.

Tears are running down my cheeks like raindrops during a storm. The hatred I see in the eyes of the people staring back at me speaks directly to my bones. My hands won't stop shaking. My forehead is beaded with sweat.

“There's nothing preposterous about this situation.” Mr. William counters, taking a step forward. “My daughter, Alina is pregnant for you, meaning she is a threat to this girl standing before us therefore

she was ready to do anything to get rid of my daughter just so she can keep her place.”

“Please stop! That's not true!” I shout out in tears. “I have no idea how that thing got into my dress. Please…” I rush to Reagan and go down on my knees, holding his pants tight and sobbing like a child as I look up at him. “Please you have to believe me. I didn't do it. You know I would never do a thing like that. I'm not a murderer!”

“My Lord.” Someone calls from the door and we all turn to look. My soul leaves my body when my eyes fall on two guards dragging Lizzy to the front.
