Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 746

Chapter 746

"Who says I'm pregnant?" Hera sprang up.

"Are you not?" Bernard was baffled.

"Of course not."

"Really?" He clearly didn't believe that, his eyes glancing at her flat belly. "You're not lying just to have sex, aren't you?"

She was speechless. How could she make up a pregnancy when she really wasn't pregnant?

She questioned back, "How could I not know when I'm an alternative medicine practitioner?

Bernard had faith in her in terms of medical skills, but he still couldn't believe it. "Why were you nauseous when you saw meat? Isn't that a sign of pregnancy?"

Signs of pregnancy? Ridiculous.

"When did that happen?" As soon as she finished, she recalled the other day when she had a meal with her friends, and the red, juicy slices of meat made her feel sick.

She couldn't bear the sight of them lately because they reminded her of Linda, whose face alone repulsed her.

Did Bernard take that as a sign of pregnancy?

She also remembered that Samantha and her friends had brought up kids. Did they misunderstand the situation as well?

It was no wonder Bernard had been cautious around Hera these days. He wouldn't have sex with her and even bought a bunch of baby products without her knowing. What a huge misunderstanding!

"Your symptoms showed up quite late. It's been a while since we had sex," he pointed out. Hera couldn't believe she was hearing that from him.

Hadn't she explained herself that day? She had just been too excited during this period of time.

He suddenly remembered something. "You still haven't had your period this month, have you? It's been more than a month."

Hera felt so helpless. Sometimes, it was stressful to have a boyfriend who would keep track of her period cycle. Still, he was right about that; she hadn't had her period this month yet. "It could be because of the surgery. It's delayed because I'm still weak," she reasoned.

The mention of the surgery made him feel guilty. If he had protected her well enough, she wouldn't have needed to suffer.

She was willing to sacrifice her life for him, so he wished to treat her even better for the rest of his life.

After noticing the glint in his eyes turning dull, she lay down to continue sleeping, assuming that the misunderstandings were cleared up.

Yet, he asked, "Could it be because of pregnancy that your period is delayed?"

Just how much did this man want a baby?

Hera couldn't take it anymore. "I'm seriously not pregnant! I checked this morning-I'm not pregnant!"

She had also felt uneasy because of her delayed period, so she checked her pulse to confirm. Now that she was about to explode, Bernard pursed his thin lips. Disappointment sat in him as there was no baby.noveldrama

He had even made plans for themselves after dealing with his family matters. They would register their marriage in Aurania and stay in Vawaii until delivery.

He also purchased a private island as their marital house, which could keep them from the world's troubles. Without disturbance from outsiders, they could enjoy their married couple's life together while waiting for the baby.

Yet, there was no baby.

"How about having a baby after you're fully recovered?" He pulled her into her arms.
