Gemma was to be questioned in Interrogation Room 4, and Nathan was the lead interrogator.

Gemma wore a pale green dress and had neatly styled her hair into a bun at the back of her head. Although her hands were cuffed, she still held a cross pendant.

"No matter what you're investigating, I'll fully cooperate with you," Gemma answered slowly.

"But I have a request. Can you let me be with Xavi? He's intellectually impaired, so he knows nothing. I'm afraid that he'll be frightened."

Gemma's tone was very soft and composed. She brought up her request so gently, making it hard for anyone to refuse.

Nathan answered with a question of his own, "Aren't you worried about your biological daughter? I noticed how terrified she was on the way here."

"Xandia's an adult and can handle herself, but Xavi is different. He hasn't fully recovered and is intellectually impaired. I'm more worried about him," Gemma gently remarked while looking at the pendant in her hand.

The assistant, who spoke up for Gemma earlier, was suddenly at a loss for words. He also noticed how startled Xandia was while being brought over. On the other hand, Xavier was extremely energetic.

Even if Xavier was intellectually impaired, he was still a healthy man. On the other hand, Xandia was just a delicate young woman. The assistant wondered if Gemma was overreacting.

"Are you certain it's not because you feel that you've wronged him?" Nathan questioned coldly.

Gemma, who had been staring at the cross pendant in her hand, looked up at Nathan. "I don't know what you're talking about. Why would I feel guilty toward Xavi? His father is my twin brother, so that makes Xavi like my son. Since his parents are dead and he's ill, what's wrong with me raising him?"

"Is that the truth?" Nathan retorted with his own question.

Gemma asked, "What else would it be?"

"Take Xavier to her," Bernard suddenly ordered from the control room.

"Alright." Joshua hummed in response before immediately making the arrangements.

Although he was in the interrogation room, Nathan heard the instructions from the control room through his earpiece. He suddenly understood what they were up to.

"Sure, we'll comply with your request," he responded to Gemma. "But you must honestly explain in front of Mr. Xavier how Mr. Greg died that year."

Gemma stayed silent as her heart started to pound fast. While she was hesitating, the interrogation room door opened, and Xavier walked in.

"Are we playing hide-and-seek here?" Xavier asked innocently after entering the room.

"Are you okay, Xavi?" Having heard Xavier's voice, Gemma immediately turned around with a worried expression. If she weren't shackled to the interrogation chair, she might have rushed over while seeming like a concerned mother.

"Oh, I've found you! Aunt Gemma, hide-and-seek is very fun. It's so exciting!" Xavier spoke like a three-year-old. He clapped, causing the handcuffs around his wrists to clink loudly. While taking in Xavier's foolish behavior, Gemma suddenly felt distressed and sad. What would happen to him when she was no longer around?
