Chapter 1327
Seeing her die with her eyes open, the driver felt disgusted. He stepped out of the car, got rid of the body, cleaned up the scene, and then hurried away.
Adrian was surprised at how easily he became the family doctor for the Waldorfs
What surprised him even more was the level of their medical equipment-it was on par with a hospital's, and some devices were even beyond what he'd seen in his hospital experience. This was why Pearl preferred being at home; it was just as equipped but much quieter.
His role was straightforward: look after Pearl during her pregnancy. He also needed to inspect her meals carefully, as Richard, ever cautious after the recent scare, insisted that Adrian check everything Pearl ate before it reached her.
One morning, while Pearl was having breakfast, a knock came at the door. Recognizing the knock, Pearl knew instantly it was Esther.
True to guess, Esther burst into the room, breathless.
Pearl shook her head and patted Esther on the back, helping her catch her breath. "Why the rush? What happened?"
Esther nodded, her face filled with worry. "It's James. His condition is worsening. You need to come see him." Pearl was aware of James's illness and knew he had broken up with Esther for her own good. That was why she was secretly fine with Esther staying by his side.
"What's the situation?"
Esther shook her head. "I'm not sure, but he was unresponsive when I visited, and the doctors were trying to revive him. I don't know what to do."
However, she believed Pearl would be able to save him.
"Calm down. I'll get ready and head over shortly.' Pearl's reassurance seemed to ease Esther a bit, even as tears brimmed in her eyes.
Pearl began to gather her things, while Adrian looked concerned. "I don't think that's a wise decision, ma'am. You're nearly six months pregnant and still weak. It might not be safe for you to be taking on so much.
Esther glanced at Pearl's belly, feeling a bit guilty. "Is this too much for you?"
Despite her condition, Pearl was determined. "Saving lives comes first." She turned to Adrian, who looked shocked, and said, "Come with me."
"Me? Go with you?" Adrian pointed to himself in disbelief.
"Yes, you can assist me."
Adrian reluctantly nodded, and they quickly left for the hospital with Esther.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
When they arrived, the situation was dire. James was still in critical condition, as indicated by the red light flashing outside his room. Esther looked on, anxious.
Could James really not make it?
